Liquidnet Europe Limited, a small asset management business, joined City Action following attendance on a Community Tour to Islington in June 2010. One of the community organisations visited was Age Concern Islington’s Sotheby Mews Day Centre, with whom Liquidnet have chosen to support a variety of social events for local older people.

Oriel Securities and Blackfriars Settlement

Oriel Securities, a corporate and institutional stockbroking and advisory firm with 55 employees, became a City Action member in 2009. The company made a decision to partner with a community organisation that they could support in a range of ways and approached City Action for assistance with sourcing a suitable partner.

Colt and Friendship Works

Colt have been building their CSR programme from scratch since 2009. Selecting a charity partner was one aspect of setting up their community programme - the other aspect was introducing an employee volunteering policy which they introduced at the end of 2009. Colt operates in 14 countries and in 2009 each country was asked to work with its employees to select a charity partner for the next two years.

City Action member, Bank of Montreal Financial Group, have 110 employees based in the City. The company wanted to develop a community project that could potentially involve all of their employees.

From ‘Big Week Out’ to ‘Three Big Weeks Out’

In June 2007, law firm Addleshaw Goddard launched ‘Big Week Out’: a mass volunteering event that offered 300 Addleshaw Goddard employees the chance to spend a day at one of five projects in London, Leeds and Manchester.
